    Friendicoes SECA

    from Gurugram, Haryana

80G tax benefits for INR donations

The beginning of Spring is usually when flowers bloom, the winter chill fades away, and there’s brightness and sunshine all around. Unfortunately for Magrur, our oldie camel, it wasn’t. He was cruelly abandoned with a fractured leg on Gurgaon-Faridabad road last winter, and was found wandering around dragging his leg, on 20th Feb, 2020.

Weak and malnourished, he was sent to the Friendicoes SECA Sanctuary to recover. It has been a long journey to recovery for him, and over the last one year, he has undergone treatment to set the broken bone and nurse him back to health. The amazing staff at Friendicoes have been giving him the attention and care he richly deserves and a visit to the sanctuary is incomplete without meeting this handsome guy, standing tall and contentedly chewing on his food.

However, a year of medical care and expenses has really added up. The expenses incurred come out to a total of Rs. 500/- per day.

40 KG Green Fodder/day @ Rs. 5/- per KG = Rs. 200/-
6 KG Grain/day @ Rs. 25/- per KG = Rs. 150/-
Miscellaneous Supplements & Treatment/day = Rs. 150/-

Magrur has also been a trendsetter in the sense that based on his story, we have been talking to various camel owners in the city, to guide and counsel them about care and upkeep and also taking help from the police to highlight the anti-cruelty provisions. Although we don’t support the commercial use of animals, we need to intervene and help the ones who might be suffering due to ignorance or cruelty.

Some other camels who have benefitted after Magrur’s story became public are:

1.    Tiger & Umut (young boys rescued by a volunteer in Gautam Budh Nagar, and sent to Friendicoes SECA by UP Police for treatment have now been released back to their owner vide the Hon'ble Court Orders after treatment)
2.    Raju (camel deployed for rides at Sec 29, Gurgaon and found with maggot wounds in his nose. With the help of local Police, the owners have been counselled at length and warned  strictly from inflicting any pain and suffering on Raju and his two siblings. Friendicoes SECA has started Rajus' treatment on.)

The total amount we are aiming to raise to cover for the medical and other care expenses for these camels is INR 2,50,000.

With a little contribution, you can help them be safe, healthy, and happy. Would you step up and donate any amount that you are comfortable with, to help Magrur and his friends?
