Incident : My father developed an ulcer in his mouth, a week after the lockdown started. But at that time we were in green zone, so we went to the doctor and he gave medicines but nothing happened. This happened two times. The ulcer kept coming back. We live in a small town, so people were scared of the covid that they didn't wanted to touch or check my father's mouth. We gathered some money and went to the bigger city 100km away to big hospitals for the checkup. Turned out it was cancer. Doctor said surgery had to be done on his mouth. We took loan from SBI and asked our relatives for money and were able to get the surgery done. Here are the Reports . It costed ₹1,17,000 (excluding medicines and expenditures) . We were able to get little amount deducted because we knew a doctor there. Surgery was done on 26 last month. It was successful.
Problem : Now we need to get his radiotherapy and chemotherapy done. Doctor said it'll span up to 30 days and will happen on Monday to Friday. Means, it'll take up to 2 months. And the problems are money, place to stay and pandemic. Money because we went to hell and back to gather money for surgery that it's hard to get now from anywhere. Place to stay because, hospital rooms cost ₹2000 each day. And we have to live their for 30 days. Plus the cost of food for the patient and the caretaker. And the biggest issue is the virus. It doesn't just pose problem to us as health but it affected people's mind. People are not giving rooms to stay because everyone is scared. Everything costs more than it should.
Why I'm worried : I don't have a job, I'm 19yo. I am studying for defence but all of my exams are postponed. I cleared the Indian navy written exam but the PFT(Physical fitness test) is postponed too. My father is a govt. teacher. Last time govt. took half of the salary without asking for the PM fund. He's the breadwinner of the family. We already have home loan and the loan we took for the surgery. Our closest relative are failures, they are busy getting drunk and fighting their own family members.
