Hi, I am Arpit from Chandigarh.
I am an Engineer who has served as an ASSISTANT COMMANDER in ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police),wrote UPSC mains (4 years), and turned into a social entrepreneur.
I have also worked with several NGOs - SOREM ( Society for rehabilitation of mentally challenged), special schools, Rotaract clubs for FUND RAISING for Kerala, Kashmir and Chennai floods.
I have volunteered for JAN SHIKSHA SANSTHAN (an MHRD initiative) aimed at spreading education amongst the underprivileged. I interacted with people of different age groups (from class 8th to 2nd year BA students), all within the same room. My efforts increased passing percentage from 20% to 35%.
Currently I have enrolled for a 2 year RURAL MANAGEMENT programme at IRMA,Gujarat.
 
Something about Jagriti Yatra:

Jagriti Yatra is a 15-day long, national train journey that covers 8000 kilometers across the length and breadth of India. Every year, it takes 500 highly motivated youngsters (with some participation of international students), selected from thousands of applicants, to meet inspiring role models of India.

How can the yatra be a game changer:
 I came to know about the yatra through a former “yatri”, who had witnessed a dramatic change in his personality after the journey. I listened to him in great details about the learning experiences during the interactions with other yatris and role models.

The BOGIE DEBATES ranging on a wide variety of issues, with new ideas coming in from diverse minds, exchanging of FIRST HAND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCES about bringing a social change, inspiring TALKS WITH THE ROLE MODELS, forging EVER LASTING CONTACTS with like-minded people who wish to bring a change, all ignite a spark to be a part of the tremendous journey.
 As Gandhiji said, the Real India resides in her villages. Through the yatra I wish to travel through the length and breadth of the country, meet people from all walks of life with different socio-economic-cultural perspectives, experience the ground realities, and visualize the opportunities that hold potential for a better India. Simply, it provides an opportunity for self-realisation.
 And especially after COVID-19 lockdown and subsequent crisis, Jagriti yatra provides exchange of ENTREPRENEURIAL IDEAS to create livelihood opportunities across Rural India, the Bharat.

My financial Handicap:
 Personally, I haven't added financially to the family income pool as of now. And my family has already invested a lot in my education (Engineering fees) along with a 4 year investment for UPSC preparation (the years when they were rather expecting me to earn).
 And since I am further planning for a 2 year course in rural management at IRMA, I would rather be needing education loan (without collateral) to the tune of 15 lakhs.
 So, I would not want to add another burden of the yatra cost at this time, and humbly request to raise a sponsor so I take home the immense learning and add my little contribution to the Yatra and Society.
