As we prepare for an uncertain time the world over, we the teachers at KSGMPS Immadihalli - a govt. public school located in Bengaluru, in the State of Karnataka, India are facing new hurdles in teaching our students who are largely from under-privileged backgrounds. A rising no. of families are struggling with meeting basic needs - they work as watchmen, school caretakers, domestic housekeeping, drivers, farmers and laborer's, who didn't have stable income to begin with. They are not getting enough from govt. rations and are struggling to meet their expenses. In addition to this as teachers, we are struggling to give students quality education via online classes as many don't have access to phones or unlimited data to attend online classes simply because of these unfortunate circumstances. Now, we need your urgent help to support these families through this fund.
We plan to use these funds to -
1. Help the families secure their basic needs by providing temporary relief
2. Provide affordable smartphones for student's who don't have access or limited access to smartphones.
3. Recharge their data packs
(Note - By access we mean that - they don't have a smartphone or don't get the smartphone until other family members are done using it for their work/classes)
We will need these funds as soon as possible. It's uncertain when schools will open and the students are losing precious time waiting for basic needs to be satisfied and quality education to be provided due to a global pandemic, which has made their families and their future more vulnerable than ever.
