Living Voices is an amateur choir comprised of talented students, housewives, and various other individuals in Mumbai, India. Ours is a community choir where we train and teach those who wouldn't normally be able to afford professional voice lessons. We have sung with the Symphony Orchestra of India and the Bombay Chamber Orchestra multiple times performing world music along with operas and western classical music.
We have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at one of the world's most prestigious concert halls-Lincoln Centre, New York. Lincoln Centre houses the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the world's finest. While we have been refusing offers to go and sing in Europe, the Lincoln Centre invite will give our choir an unparalleled opportunity to work with multiple choirs across the world. The offer was too good to refuse and so we want to make this dream come true.
The work we will perform is titled 'Calling All Dawns' and speaks about life, death, and rebirth. It encompasses songs in 12 different languages including Sanskrit, Swahili, Mandarin, and Japanese, one of the most popular songs being about River Ganga- the most holy river in the world.
Whether $10 or $100, each dollar will count towards making our dream come true. (Donations can be made in USD or INR through an easy online process).
Thank you!
In order to fulfil our dream, we need your help. As non-breadwinners of the house, we need to raise close to $30,000 in order to pay for our travel to and accommodation in NYC. We have been hand picked by an organisation called Distinguished Concerts International in NYC over hundreds of other choirs globally. Without your help we will not be able to do the concert.
We sincerely request you to support us in whatever way possible, be a part of our journey, and help us make India proud by representing our nation at the world's finest recital venue.
