Hope for the Homeless

‘UnLockdown’ was an initiative born out of our desire to bridge creativity and community, two spheres of our society which have come under unprecedented blows at the hands of the COVID-19 lockdown. As students on the cusp of adulthood, we felt the impact of isolation within our circle of peers, and a collective responsibility to the innumerable others rendered helpless in these circumstances. By harnessing our passion for the creative arts through remote teaching, we hope to have a positive impact on our younger peers and on our greater community. Our partnership with ‘Anvaya Foundation’ will allow us to make this vision a reality.

‘Anvaya Youth Club Whitefield’ is a youth-driven community service club which is a subset of the non-profit organization ‘Anvaya Foundation’. AYCW hosts an annual blanket drive distributing blankets to migrant workers, underprivileged families and the homeless during the winter period. This year, on account of the instability presented by the current circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, AYCW will be purchasing tents for the same demographic in order to ensure the safety of those experiencing the brunt of this pandemic, by providing them with a semblance of shelter as well as a means by which to control their outdoor exposure and interaction with the general public.
