Bihar Flood Relief Fund

Natural disasters have no friends or foes, with reports indicating that emerging economies in Asia, including India, are among the top 10 countries facing the greatest financial risk from natural disasters.

The most recent one in Bihar is one such nightmare India is facing at this time.

Bihar is reeling under pain with largest ever flood affecting 12 districts and more than 80 lacs people. Having been born in Bihar, it hurts me to see the sufferings of the flood affected people of Bihar. I am trying to do my bit to raise some funds to help the poor in Bihar.

I have had a brief discussion with the founder of Namami Mithila Foundation, a NGO based in Patna, to collaborate to support people affected by the dreaded floods.  I am also trying to reach out to the local government and / or, other NGOs operating in the area to explore collaboration.

This fund-raise will specifically be used for supporting the victims with emergency bag / kits.

An emergency kit would roughly have these essentials — a first-aid kit, a battery-operated torch / flash light preferably LED, essential medicines, important documents - map, dry food items, water, a set of thick ropes, candles and matches, chappals, a whistle, lightweight waterproof blankets / plastic ponchos, personal hygiene, some child care supplies.

Your support can save the lives of millions of people in Bihar, prevent epidemic caused by the floods to spread, and help the poor and the needy in recovering from the after math of floods.
