Hello everyone
We would like to present to you our humble home: Annai Asramam, a residence for mentally challenged men in Kozhikottupothai, Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu, South India.
Starting in 1994, this is a non-profit, non-governmental organization and so funds were never really abundant but we managed to get by one way or another. A major problem has always been the monthly trips to the hospital that HAVE to be taken for the well-being of our patients.
It is an extremely cumbersome task involving the logistics of transporting 113 mentally challenged men to and from the Government hospital in Asaripallam over 20 kilometers away. We seek to solve this problem by building a hospital on our own premises. In addition to helping the mentally sick in our home and providing employment to our local people, the hospital will also be of great use to the mentally challenged in and around the Kanyakumari district.
The trips to the hospital and the life-saving medication prescribed by the doctors are the only remedies for their symptoms. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us fight this one battle of ours in the long war against mental illness in India by contributing your mite and also spreading the word around.
