Help 300+ Abandoned And Rescued Animals!

Hello everyone, My name is Anamika Chowdhury and I rescue animals from unfortunate situations and provide them with necessary medical and rehabilitation care that they require. I work to find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. I have been doing this from the past 20 years. Currently there are around 200+ animals under my care. Earlier I used to do all in my 3bhk flat but due to increasing number of rescues I had to rent out a farmhouse near Karnala, Panvel.

As is expected, many ask me - why do i do this? There is not one answer but hundreds, after my very first dog rescue and falling in love with her, I found a calling. Seeing the innocence in these animals and the unconditional love they have to offer, i can only say that they are more than just rescues, they are family to me.

Taking care of such a large family also is a huge task and i do it with all my heart. Funds are always tight and we have to keep managing but me, my staff and a small group of well-wishers and my human family keep this proverbial Arc afloat. Now we look at other like you who can help us even more and help these beautiful souls.

Currently, there is a urgent need for funds for food, medicines, vaccination, maintenance etc. I keep struggling every day to sustain as I do not receive any support from the Municipal corporation or Government but that does not stop me from helping these four legged furry and feline animals. I am grateful for the donations I receive as it encourages me to do more for these animals who completely depend on us.There are pending medical and food bills. Please consider helping these voiceless animals.

Hello,

It has been a difficult two days here at Hands That Heal. As Cyclone Nisarga approached, we had no idea that we would be directly below it. The cyclone changed its course and came inland via alibag, which is hardly an hour away from our shelter. While we had transferred most of the dogs and animals inside the previous night for safety, we could not brace for the might of the winds and rain.
Within minutes the tadpatri we had installed for monsoons broke down, things were flying around, the cow shed’s roof blew away and the electricity went off. The dogs and cats were extremely scared of the howling wind and rain and so were we. Hoping we do not suffer any more damage.
The larger animals were quickly transported to a temporary shed and we had started repairs. Our village and adjoining villages have no electricity as all poles have been knocked down (see photos) and repairs will take another 4-5days. We had no light for one full night- using only emergency lights. For now, we have brought a diesel generator on rent (see pic), which also is extremely expensive but we need lights inside the shelter rooms at all times. We are posting this now as we did not have any mobile network also for the past 2 days.
We have started repairs to brace for the monsoons, but with the on-going covid situation, there is extreme shortage of funds and donations. Our rescue family is in dire need of your support.
We need funds to repair and keep the shelter running immediately. Cash or in form of material paver blocks, plastic sheets, truck of mud/gravel to level the area, cement, bricks, wires etc.
We are trying to raising 2.5 lacs to cover the entire area properly as our location is prone to strong winds and rains.
Our animals are scared and they need your help, Any help at this hard time will be blessing for us.
Please save our babies from this cyclone damage and monsoon. As the climate is changing so fast, we dont know what is in store for them. We want to be prepared for the worst.

Share this and help save many gudiya’s.

Gudiya, was found abandoned near Tilak Nagar, Mumbai. After being rescued by animal lovers and activists, she came to Hands That Heal. This is her recovery journey with a long way still to go. She is almost 10 Years old.

Every day, pets are abandoned in cities, some due to negligence and many because they cannot handle them in their old age. PLEASE know that pets are not toys and are real souls who will be a part of your family. If you cannot commit to such responsibility, do not bring a pet home. Also DO NOT buy pets.

If you ever see an abandoned animal on road, never leave them. Give them a second chance, call an animal activist and help them. Even after so much trauma, They still believe in love and their eyes speak their stories.

Hands that Heal is a forever home for many such abandoned and old animals. Please help us to support many such beautiful souls.
