In early 2019 Amit started experiencing regular fevers, episodes of vomiting and random swelling around his various body parts. After many rounds of tests, he was told he has Kidney problem and was referred to PGI Chandigarh. After another set of tests and biopsy it was confirmed with Amit has IGA nephropathy a chronic Kidney disease.
Amit had to constantly be in and out of the hospitals for tests, change of medicines for doctors to see which one works best for his stage and his body, but nothing seems to be working and things were getting worse. Amit was then admitted to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) Rishikesh ICU but just his ill fate that in Nov 2020 while Amit was in ICU he got contracted with COVID. Fighting for his life in ICU with COVID, he went through 20 dialysis in 1 month. While all this was happening doctors at AIIMS gave another bad news that there is water filling up in his lungs and he has Lung fibrosis (suspected as a side effect of COVID) and might stay for the rest of his life.
In Jan 2021 Amit was also diagnosed with mild tuberculosis (TB) and has been on medication too.
Amit has been undergoing two dialysis every week since November 2020 and his body is deteriorating at a very high speed. In June 2021 he went through ECHO and his heart was working at 45% as a side effect of chronic Kidney disease. In November 2021, doctors did another ECHO and Amit’s heart is now working only at 20%. Amit is now getting 3 dialysis every week for his heart and rest of the organs to work since Nov 2021. He is advised to get a Kidney transplant at the earliest possibility for him to live. Amit’s sister is a match and has volunteered to donate her 1 kidney to her amazing big brother.
Being from a lower middle class all the money, jewelry and other monetary valued items has been already used to pay the hospital bills, tests, medications, and dialysis for past 2.5 years (roughly spent around 17 – 18 lakh rs).
The only way Amit can get a kidney transplant is through your prayers, and support. Please donate whatever you can!
