I don't know how to raise funds for help and in this situation, I may not be able to write properly. I'm trying too.
My cousin brother Akshay Kumar Dutta (age 42) has been suffering from covid since 1st May. On 6th May, when his SPO2 was 89%, we immediately admitted him to Parkview Super Speciality. The CT scan report revealed that 80% of his lungs were damaged. After fighting for 3 days in the general ward and then in the ICU for 13 days, his oxygen level started decreasing again, the doctor advised us for ventilation. But since the hospital did not have good infrastructure, we shifted him to Fortis yesterday. After paying a huge sum of money at Parkview, we admitted him to 'Fortis' with 'Intubation'. In this context, I would like to say that today, even after 21 days, his RTPCR report is still positive CT 24.
So at Fortis he had to be kept in Covid Isolation ICU where the cost of ventilation is Rs. 80,000/- per day excluding medicines.
For his well being, one of a senior hospital Doctor suggested us for ECMO therapy which costs 10 lacs to 12 lacs rupees and there are ancillary costs which it is impossible for us to arrange. We are still trying to get along with our relatives. At the moment his lungs are 88% crippled. But the CRP dropped from 121 to 8 and so many reports are good so we can't give up hope at all. Although we are not undergoing ECMO therapy, we are waiting for my brother (Dada) to recover after leaving him on ventilation for few more days. In this condition, we cannot even move him to a government hospital in a very dangerous situation.
My humble request is that please extends a helping hand according to your ability, then maybe a 8 year old boy will not lose his father. Please pray for his speedy recovery as well.
** In this context, I would like to say that his construction business has been closed for the last one year and he is the only earning member of his family.
