The COVID-19 tragedy unfolding in India became intensely personal when we lost our dear friend and batchmate, Ajit Kumar. He came to India from US to grieve on his father's death due to COVID-19 but God had something else prepared for him. As we grieve our friend’s loss, our thoughts immediately go to his family. We wonder if this could have been us. We wonder how our families would cope, and shudder.
We resolve to do everything we can to help his family at least get the opportunities they deserve. It is in this we ask for your help.
A bit about Ajit
Ajit Kumar was born in a small village near Gaya, Bihar and came from a very humble background. His father being a farmer and mother, a housewife, the future of his family held upon his shoulders. And he rose beyond anyone’s expectations. He got himself inducted into India’s top-ranked engineering institute by clearing one of the toughest exams[AIEEE]. A class of 2013 graduate in Computer Science from NIT Trichy, he was exceptionally hard working that landed him an on-campus placement in the United States. Though he received the offer, his misery continued due to his US work visa not being allotted in two consecutive years. He continued his struggle where he worked at multiple startups before landing a job at Amazon, India. He worked there for a couple of years and then moved to the US.
For the first couple of years in the US, he worked for Epic Systems in Wisconsin and then moved to Amazon in the Greater Seattle Area. He was working as Software Development Engineer 2 at Amazon where he was recommended several times by his colleagues for his smart way of problem-solving. A very jolly and fun-loving guy who would bring a smile to anyone’s face, Ajit was a charmer in his own way.
Regardless of the above situation, his family is still living a harder life and has been completely dependent on Ajit’s earnings.
Reason for raising funds
Ajit was the sole earning member of his family. He and his father passed away in a span of a month[May 2021] due to Covid-19 leaving behind a family of a wife, a mother, 2 younger brothers and an unmarried sister. His family is now in complete shock and has no way to make the ends meet. They are very uncertain of what the future holds and have lost all hope.
We seek your support to fund his brothers' education, sister's marriage in December and ensure the well-being of his family till they become self-dependent.
Appeal to supporters
Please contribute generously to support Ajit’s family so that they can become self-sufficient. No amount of money can fill the gap left behind due to his absence, the least we can do is to provide them with some financial sustainability and certainty.

How will the funds be used?
How much money are you targeting to raise?
We are targeting to raise ₹ 50 lakh. We’ve come up with this based on the current funds available to the family, their current pressing loans and the expected expenses to ensure his siblings can get education of their choice and married to a prosperous family. We believe this is what Ajit would have liked to do for his family.
