Help Us Construct Roads for Better Connectivity

We are the people of Asson Bakhli, Asson Garh, Block Naineedanda, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, INDIA.

And we are seeking a donation for Rupees 12 lakhs in order to connect our village with other villages.

The lack of a road has really affected our village and the problems we face are enormous. Some of those issues are -

Lack of teachers – While we have a high school and primary school in our village, both the schools function with less teachers. This is because it is very difficult to commute to both schools as there is no road to reach them. Teachers who are usually assigned to our schools don’t show up as a result of this.

Help during a medical emergency – People from our village have a huge problem in case of a medical emergency. The nearest hospital is more than 70 kms away and it takes 1 hour by foot to reach the closest road that can take the patient to the hospital. There is no other way to commute from the village to the road. To get even a simple blood test report, people have to spend a full day commuting which costs them Rupees 2000 just to reach the diagnostic center.

Business Development – While there are more than a 1000 people in ours and our neighboring villages, without a road, we can’t use any transportation that can allow us to set up any small business. This is affecting the money that the villagers are able to make and their ability to sustain a simple life.

WHERE THINGS STAND
The map below shows the current situation, temporary bridge and the hard rock which took us more than 1.5 months to connect from one side to another and result us very expensive which was not thought/expected during budget estimation.

With the funds we receive, we would be able to build the road that can finally connect these.

WORK DONE
In May 2005, a road of around 10 kms was sanctioned to connect Pauri to Almora district. It was supposed to serve approximately 20-25 villages from Pauri Garhwal to Almora. But due to some reason it couldn't move from 6th km to the destination. It was started in 2005 and till end of 2018 it had not completed the 1st phase of constructions.

However, we, the people from our village, Asson Bakhli started to raise funds from our people who were earning outside the village. We managed to collect around Rupees 5 Lakh to construct the road from Almora district to Village Asson Bakhli. We completed this on 14th Jan 2019.

HELP NEEDED
After using all our connections and funds, we now need help to construct the road for our final leg of connectivity. A road from Kharkoli Village via Asson Bakhli to Bhitakot Malla (Pauri to Almora). Remaining length of road is around 3 kms with 1 flyover. The cost of building the flyover is not included in the funds we are raising as there is a river that needs to be crossed. For now, we should be able to manage by building a temporary flyover over the river.
It is our humble request to contribute as much as you can, so the 200 kids studying in our village get teachers and are able to get the education they rightly deserve.

WHAT WE CAN DO
We know how hard you work for your money, and we respect that you are able to give us some of that. In return we would like to send you constant updates and report progress along with pictures, through WhatsApp or this site, so that you know that your contribution is being put to good use.

As a personal request we could be grateful for any amount you give us, but a minimum contribution of Rupees 1000 really helps build the fund faster.
On behalf of all us at Village Asson Bakhli, I would like to thank you for reading about us and our situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to connect with me through phone or email.

With Gratitude,
Ajal Pal

Work progress:

There is approx 150-200 meter pending work only for JCB, but as it's hard ROCK so we had to get another JCB to crack it which still seems to be difficult. We need to get another machine which is costly due to transport cost.
