Since the very onset of the second wave of deadly Covid-19, a group of volunteers coming from different progressive student-youth-cultural organisations is running a rigorous relief campaign under the banner Covid Help Centre, Bihar.
The fundraising campaign here is basically to help rural and urban poor who have hardly any access to the already burdened health system coping with the ongoing unprecedented Covid crisis.
Long stretched lockdown has brought the economic life to a complete hault causing distressing hunger among the working poor.
We have been able to provide dry ration packets and cooked food to a lot of such households mobilising resources physically in cash or kinds.
This campaign is being run for over a month now and needs to be intensified. We are running out of our resources and hence this crowdfunding effort.
We are now prioritising on providing dry ration packets to the poor needy families. Each packet contains 10 kg of rice , 2kg of pulses, 3 kg of potatoes, 2 kg of onions, 1 kg of salt and 1/2 litre of edible oil along with a hand soap and 3 surgical masks. This costs us around Rs.800 per packet and we intend to reach out to around 1000 more families in coming 10 days. The size of the packet to be distributed may alter depending on the funds raised.
