Hi,
My name is Megha Sainger and I am raising funds for my son, Abeer Sainger, age 4 years 11 months, who is suffering from Pilocytic Astrocytoma optic glioma Brain tumour and has to undergo for Proton treatment at Apollo Cancer Institutes - Chennai.
Abeer was diagnosed with this tumour on April 2019, his first surgery for a shunt was performed on 29 April 2019. Further, he underwent craniotomy for biopsy under Dr.Rana Patir. The report of biopsy said its a low-grade glioma. The problem with Abeers tumour is that it cant be operated as it is located on the optic chiasm. The protocol for this type of tumour was to undergo Chemo sessions which happened under the surveillance of Dr Amita Mahajan at Apollo Hospitals, Delhi. The cost of 1 session was INR 15000 and its been going for a year now.
Recently we noticed that Abeer is finding it difficult to see with his right eye, and after various MRI sessions, it was not clear that the tumour was infiltrating and is thickening the optic nerves. We then consulted an eye specialist Dr. Rasheena Bansal, and she checked his eyes and did OCT. The findings were shocking and his right eye vision has gone. Last time we checked with Dr.Rasheena Bansal it was in December everything was fine but suddenly tumour has started growing and creating pressure on the optic nerve.
So now after trying everything we are left with no option other than Proton therapy. It is a radiation procedure but very focussed. It os to be done in Apollo proton centre, Chennai under DR.rakesh Jalali
Till now we have spent more than INR 15,00,000. The family has done all it can to collect the total amount required for the treatment but INR 30,00,000 more is required to pay for all the medical expenses.
