My name is Aavya Nath. I am 35 years old trans woman from Kolkata, India.
I am from a lower-middle-class family. Both my parents passed away two years back and now I am living my life on my own. I don't have any financial support. I lost my job due to the Covid pandemic. I am doing freelance for my livelihood which is difficult as there is no work opportunity at this time.

My parents were ill and whatever savings I had was used for their treatment, as they were dependent on me. I am taking hormones for the last six years and because of my poor financial condition, I could not get my surgery done. As per the medical situation without surgical intervention, only long-term use of hormone therapy might lead to severe health complications.

This pre-surgical stage is making me so depressed that it is affecting my mental health. In the long run, it might lead to various mental and physical health conditions. In our society, transgender people are looked down upon and not given fair job opportunities which makes the situation even worse for us.

My dream is to lead a normal life like any other human being. Gender reassignment is equal to any other life-saving surgery. So any kind of financial help for my surgery will make a huge difference in my life.  It will mean a lot.
