This began way before lockdown around 5 years back, when my dad lost his job. We were hit with the most difficult times of our lives. Everything started going down but we tried to stay strong. After my father lost his job, the time got difficult for us to bear the expenses because he is the only bread earner in our family. My mother is a housewife and we're still studying.

My father did everything he could from applying to various jobs and getting rejected to losing all the savings in different types of businesses he thought would pitch in. Little did we know this was only the beginning and we were struck with another shock when my dad's kidneys failed completely.

Without any earnings, it got difficult for us to bear the dialysis expenses. My mother took the responsibility and started to work but was only paid 8K per month which is barely meeting any expenses. From one dialysis per week, his health deteriorated and now he had to opt for two dialysis per week. Each of them cost around 3K. People keep advising us to opt for cheaper ones in gurudwaras but we do they know they aren't professionals and there's a high risk of infection involved because we tried it.

So we had to switch it back to the private hospital. We had to sell stuff to meet the expenses. Slowly and gradually we are here left with nothing. To meet our expenses we had to take loans but now we are not able to pay them. It burns to see my father and mother cry and failing in life and thinking about suicide which has also affected our mental health.
