A.i.R Transit Home (erstwhile RVM Humanitarian Home) for the destitute is located at Chikkagubbi village, Doddagubbi Post, Hennur, Bengaluru 560077 ( ). It is a transit home for those who have been abandoned by their families and society at large. These include the mentally and physically challenged, the homeless, the sick and injured, and victims of physical and sexual abuse. The inmates comprise people of all ages and both sexes, including young children and the elderly. The inmates are clothed, fed and provided medical and treatment and emotional support. Residents are encouraged to be active and the home provides for recreational activities such as gardening and board games.  Once they are deemed physically and medically fit, they are transferred to other suitable NGOs, rehabilitation centres/homes. Some special cases are adopted for life. The Home currently houses 135 inmates.
Senior Citizens Bangalore (SCB) is a key partner of the Transit Home offering financial and skill based support.  Established in 2002, SCB is a non-profit voluntary organization of elders committed to the betterment of the underprivileged of our society. SCB has three major areas of activities: 1) Scholarships for the deserving poor students; 2) Providing Smart Classrooms and teacher-support for government schools; and 3) Supporting the A.i.R Transit Home. SCB provides for approximately 50% of the transit home’s monthly expenses and from time to time provides funds for critical infrastructure. The Home is currently in urgent need of the following critical equipment:
  • An Industrial Washing Machine & Dryer (cost 6 lakhs)
  • A high speed Industrial Chapatti Maker (cost 2.5 lakhs).
