    This fundraiser will benefit

    A Draught-Hit Village

    from Chintamani, Karnataka

Located just 75 KM from Bangalore, Imareddyhalli is a village in Chintamani Taluk. Just like many other villages in India, this too suffered rapid deforestation due to rapid economic activities and farming.

Ground water is the only source of water in this area. With deforestation & climate change, the rainfall has come become very scarce causing rapid depletion of ground water. Lakes have dried up & tubewells don't pump enough water for drinking and agriculture purpose. Even at a depth of 2000 feet, there is no guarantee of ground water.

Imareddyhalli Yuvasene, an unregistered organisation of volunteers consisting of youth, has planned for a mass tree plantation drive in and around the village. It plans to plant 1000 saplings over a period of 12-15 months and water them for 2-3 years until the they grow up deeper and taller.

I am one of the members of Yuvasene and hail from the same village. I work in Bangalore and would want to bring about a change in our village. I, along with 25 odd volunteers have taken up the task of driving this initiative. We want to make our village a model one in our area.

The work has already started on 22nd Aug.
On 24-Aug-20, we  reached out to Local Forest Dept and submitted a request letter to help us by providing saplings of Neem, Fig, Pongame Oiltree etc. They have agreed to help us. Today (27-Aug), we have dug 125 trenches to start with out 1st phase of plantation. We are planning to plant 125 saplings on 6th Sep, 2020. We will be planting the remaining saplings over next 12 months.

Once planted, we will put up a fencing around it to prevent damages from people, animals & vehicles. The type of fencing (metallic mesh etc) is what we are thinking for now. We will also take complete responsibility for watering the saplings for 2-3 years until they grow up.

We will keep you updated.

We humbly request you to help us by donating funds, in whatever capacity you can and help us plant 1000 saplings to help the drought hit area.

Thanking you in advance
