A myth among many that Covid is an urban phenomenon. Rajasthan is reporting a rapid increase in Covid cases from the rural areas. While lack of awareness, medical infrastructure, low quality of care, poor accountability, limited access to facilities and reluctance to submit to testing and treatment make the rural population more susceptible to Covid.
Since 1996 SPECTRA is working for the betterment of the villages in Rajasthan. Specifically in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. So many projects and activities has performed by the organization in past 25 years for the Socio, Medical and economic development of the Rural communities.During the first wave of Covid-19 organization provided its services to rural communities in the following ways-
- Providing medical, social as well as integration activities, care and nursing, material, educational and information services
- Distribution of Rashan kit, food packets, mask, medicine, sanitiser and other necessary things.
- Reached out to village-level child protection committees to ensure that every child is safe
- Psychological counselling was also taken care of. Wherever required, we had roped in qualified counselors to provide counseling to women & children over the phone or by taking them to the counselor who were facing anxiety about a number of things.
During second-wave also SPECTRA is providing various kind of services to the rural community of Alwar District of Rajasthan. Most of the attention and efforts at the moment are focused on sourcing oxygen and drugs, hunger, providing livelihoods, ensuring vaccination saturation in villages of Alwar, and providing mental health and counselling services.
But it is struggling to expand its services to reach more people. Because the second wave of Covid is more deadly than the first wave. It is affecting villagers badly and villagers are dropping dead like flies.
Hence we are requesting you to support us so that we all jointly save thousands of lives of villagers.SPECTRA wants your support to keep carrying following activities-
1.Helping organization to establish a resource centre which helps village community to facilitate the availability of oxygen cylinders/concentrators, drugs/medicines, free masks, sanitiser, counselling services, and other healthcare facilities, where there is a massive shortage and lives are being lost as a result.
2.Distribution of food and rations to migrant workers and vulnerable families of villages of Alwar who have lost their means of livelihoods and have no income; hunger and deprivation are real issues here.
3.Creating awareness about vaccinations and the severity of the second wave in villages of Alwar, as there is still a great deal of vaccine hesitancy there.
4.Working for women suffered/suffering Domestic Violence during second wave of lockdown by connecting them with education and livelihood by providing vocational trainings.
5.Additionally, the organization is also working to build alternative sources of livelihood for the villagers who can’t continue their previous employment or labour work.Your contribution will help to Organization to save more lives and to facilitate more to the village communities.
