Hi, this is Suhana! This is an initiative from the NGO humari pehchan. So let me share the story of why I chose this project.
When I first got my period (menarche), I was feeling so awkward and weird about the whole process;waking up at mid night just to change my sanitary pad. Through years, I got to know so much about this and now I think it is time to give the knowledge to someone else. That's why I chose this project.
You will have lots of mood swings when you are on period; those cravings for something sweet or something sour is always there. Maintaining personal hygiene is a must. There was a turning point in my life when I got to know what are the consequences of not having periods by the age of 16 or having irregular periods. My cousin didn't have her periods for 3 months and got worried. In the third month, she went to a doctor where she found out she had PCOS which is a problem where ovaries start to enlarge and the outer shell becomes thin making the ovum not reach out of the vagina or during pregnancy , sperm not reaching to ovum. She was very sad and went through medical procedures. It's been 5 years, now she is physically and mentally fit. This helped me realised how our physical and mental fitness as well as our hygiene is so important.
I have heard so many cases where people go through so many problems because they don't have sanitary pads or other hygienic menstruation products. This project is a way to tell them how to use sanitary pads and giving knowledge about periods. And I am so glad that I chose this project so I could also be a part to aware people about this stuff.
#Females are strong ♀️💗
'SUKHAD' is the name of the project. We will help them (underprivileged women) spend their periods comfortably with proper means and information under this initiative.
Providing sanitary pads, educating them on proper menstrual hygiene, and raising awareness that 'periods' and discussing them is not a taboo topic, but rather a normal method.
