My name is Joanna Savitha. I am an Engineer who has worked with several IT MNCs for 10 years. When I saw the miserable plight of Adivasis and other poor families and children in remote villages in South India, I could neither sleep nor eat until I did something about it. Eventually in 2010, me and a few others dedicated our lives for uplifting and enriching the lives of Tribal / Rural communities here.

We are located in a village called Nallur Vayal which is around 30 kilometres from Coimbatore city on the foothills of the Siruvani hills close to the Booluvampatti Reserve Forest in Tamil Nādu in Southern India.
When we initially started helping out 10 years ago, there were only a handful of children going to school. Over the past 10 years, due to the dedicated efforts of our team, over 200 children have started going to school.

The impact of the Pandemic and lockdown has been quite severe where we are located. As you know during the 2nd wave over 80% of rural India was affected by the Corona Virus.

• Many families lost their sole breadwinner.
• Many children were abandoned.
• Some children were orphaned or lost one parent during the pandemic.
• Many families lost their livelihood. Hunger, poverty and helplessness surrounded them.

This forced many children to quit school and start working. Hence, we are trying very hard to help them to continue their education………

Hence, we have setup a Corona Crisis Student Welfare Fund (CCSWF).
This fund was mainly setup to make sure that the children continue to study despite all the challenges posed by the pandemic, lockdown, poverty, hunger etc….

This fund would be used to:

• Provide uniforms and stationery supplies to the poor students.
• Help pay school/stationery fees etc. to the school.
• Provide grocery and essential items for the families of the children who have lost their sole breadwinner.
• Provide pro-active medical advice, help and counselling for infected families.
• Providing mental / emotional support to the numerous children devastated by the pandemic.
• Providing counselling and help to the children who have lost their near and dear ones.
• Providing tuition and coaching help to the children to cope with studies as during the extended lockdown they had a break in their education due to closure of schools.
• Providing support to the children who have been forced to quit school and start working.

Please help these poor children continue their education…..
