Her poor children are waiting for her to come back home and she stayed strong all this while for her children but now the disease has taken over her completely. She needs an urgent transplant in 2 days which, but her husband cannot afford it.
It all started with jaundice that kept recurringIt all started last year when Sarada was diagnosed with jaundice. Venkateshwar took her to a local doctor in Jeelugumilli, Andhra Pradesh and after a week of timely medication, she got better. But a few weeks later, her jaundice came back again. ‘Every time her jaundice recurred, I took her to a different doctor, hoping jaundice would be cured once and for all. But it didn’t.’ says Venkateshwar who has been shuttling between the hospital and his home for the past few months just to take care of his wife and children.
When Sarada’s jaundice didn’t subside, Venkateshwara took her to Hyderabad for better consultation. The doctors ran a few tests and found out that she is suffering from Cirrhosis, a serious degenerative disease because of which the liver fails to function as it should. Sarada’s liver is slowly deteriorating and she needs an urgent liver transplant to recover from this condition. She has only two days left for the transplant without which she will not survive.
Despite the pain she’s going through, she only thinks about her children
“About 5 litres of fluid is removed from her body every time her stomach swells up. She has stopped eating food for the past few weeks. Despite all the pain that she’s going through, the only thing that she worries about is our children. She fears that she may not be able to see them again. Fortunately, I'm a matching donor but I don’t have money for the transplant.” - Venkateshwar Rao, husband
