Sravani & Charag's Wedding Dedicated to Education

We really appreciate your blessings and willingness to send us a gift on the occasion of our wedding. However, we have decided to dedicate all our gifts to Mantra4Change, a non-profit in Bangalore, India run by our dear friends Santosh and Khushboo, that is committed to spreading the gift of education to kids in some of the most economically challenged neighborhoods of the city.

A glimpse of the work that Mantra4change does can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-MP1JYFUyM

We would be thrilled for any amount that you would have gifted us, to be donated to Mantra using the link below.

MANTRA’s Makerspace

Learning is always fun when it is hands-on! This is the message Mantra4Change’s all-new Makerspace is spreading across our partner schools where the love for tinkering has taken over everything else! Our initiative aims to supplement concepts taught in the formal education system with an element of fun, investigation, discovery, and relevance.

The main idea is to encourage students to understand the world around them by taking things apart, playing with technology and inventing prototypes of things that do not exist yet.

In our attempt to create thinkers, tinkerers, and problem solvers, we have been engaging with students from classes 5 to 10, with each batch comprising 20-25 students. Schools, where Mantra4Change is currently present, have been very forthcoming in their pursuit of establishing Makerspaces where students are given problem statements about the community and are encouraged to design solutions for the same.

These workshops are currently being conducted across low-income private schools as well as Government-run schools in Bengaluru, Karnataka and Tenali, Andhra Pradesh.

In the process of setting up free-of-cost, fully functioning tinkering labs in schools, Mantra4Change is now in the process of identifying the infrastructural requirements that would go into creating a haven for hands-on learning! By recreating existing storerooms, computer laboratories, activity rooms etc., we intend to divide the space into the following:

  1. Art, Craft & Textiles Studio
  2. Woodwork & Metalwork Studio
  3. Electronic & Mechanic Studio
  4. Photography & Videos Studio

Makerspaces are rich learning environments which enhance students’ critical thinking, scientific temperament, and curiosity on how and why things are made. They can vary in size and complexity but are essentially a gathering point for tools, projects, and resources that enable students to become makers.

Our initiative aims to ultimately bring out the creator in every child and harness the culture of learning by doing in every school. This, we believe, takes us many steps closer to achieving our larger dream of delivering quality education to every child!
