I have been working for the the welfare of the street animals of Kolkata for the last 4 years.
I had been an animal lover since I was a child but would feel helpless when I found injured or sick steeties. Thankfully I was introduced to Shirley Gomes when I had called up Chhaya (a Kolkata based NGO) for help regarding an injured puppy. Shirley not only helped me treat the puppy but also made me realise that there were ways in which I could help the better the lives of our street animals. That is when I began to learn basic first aid and began helping Shirley in on spot treatments. As time went on Shirley and Subhojit (who was then working with Chhaya) helped me learn different forms of on spot treatment for accident cases.
We come across a number of accident and cruelty cases on a daily basis. Some of these streeties are released after onspot treatment while the more serious ones are taken to NGOs and Private Veterinarians for further/proper treatment.

Sucessfully Sterilized
So far we had been spending our own money in treating these poor souls, but are now forced to ask for help as we are falling short in our finances. It hasn’t been easy due to shortage of funds in the last few months. Thanks to a few friends and family members we have somehow managed so far but are completely stuck now.
This campaign is for saving our streeties and giving them the dignified lives they deserve.

Animal Birth Control (ABC)
Dogs often get into terrible fights during mating season and end up injuring each other while some of them become victims to injuries caused by humans who sometime use sticks to hit them or throw hot water on them to stop the fights. We have been working to reduce the population of stray/homeless dogs/cats through humane and effective method of sterilization/ABC with the help of NGOs like Chhaya, Ashari, Love n Care etc.

We are currently trying to get 35 dogs (15 at a residential complex near park street + 10 near my residence + 10 near Bary Charles Nation's Residence) sterilized and send 3 VG cases for treatment. The cost of sterilizing each of them is Rs. 2000/- (approx.) + post opp meds expenditure.
