Our Story ...
“During a field visit, one day I have experienced two infant deaths; both of which could be prevented by simplest interventions. One baby died of pneumonia; it was a case of home delivery as the mother ran away from hospital and breastfeeding didn’t happen. Other was of a low birth weight baby (1.3 kilograms); the mother believed that they should eat less for a smooth delivery. Extremely perturbed, I started working on sustainable ways of preventing such deaths at scale”
-- Rajesh Tamadapally, Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellow
Many such deeply disturbing experiences lead to 5 PMRDFs joining hands for the cause of child survival & development and take it up as a life-time mission.
Why are we fundraising?
We have initiated a few successful pilots & here is a snapshot of our journey till now.
We need to demonstrate our impact at scale so that we can influence policy & programmatic changes at the Government level. So, this financial year (2017-18), we are planning to demonstrate impact at a scale of 100 villages in Central India and raising funds for the same.
First 1000 Days
The first 1000 days of a child’s life not only impacts child survival but also physical & cognitive development for their entire life. It also affects the child educational ability and lifetime economic productivity, forcing them into vicious cycle of ill- health and poverty. Effects of stunting (a form of malnutrition; height-for-age) below 2 years of age are irreversible too. Read more
What do we plan to do with the funds?
This fund would be used majorly for building technology infrastructure, R&D and building systems necessary for scaling up operations to 100 villages.
Here’s how your contribution can make a difference:
Impact (per month) | Amount (Rupees) |
Educate a family | 420 |
Educate 3 families | 1260 |
Educate 5 families | 2100 |
…. and so on |
