There is a known truth and a belief that lotus flower grows in the mud, always blossoms above the muddy water. The lotus seed deep inside muddy pond is always determined to reach towards the warm sun, who is also looking down for it. Our boy Omkar Vaghmare is just like this Lotus flower; very calm, clever and serene with a beautiful & determined heart. He is a 12 yr old kid from Hingoli district. Yes, you heard right - “Hingoli” another drought-affected area in Maharashtra. He belongs to a poor farmer family, where every member is not only fighting with drought situation but also struggling to pay the debt of the loan they have taken. Inability to repay the loan pushed their thoughts towards committing suicide a lot many times, but the innocent Omkar has always stood as a hope for life to them.

Omkar is in class 7th, possessive about his books and passionate about sketching. Unlike other children, he loves to sketch with his pen rather than using a pencil, as he knows his art does not require an eraser. Because of this horrifying situation of his family, he dealt with a constant fear- Fear of losing his school, his friends, his sketch-books and many more than you and I can imagine. Snehwan has taken an oath to fight with all his fears. We have taken his complete responsibility of education and art classes.
