Help Send Mishka Safely To Chicago

Story

Mishka is a 2 year-old indie dog living on the North Delhi streets. She is one of the only two survivors of her litter. Their other 3 siblings died mysteriously overnight (suspected poisoning) and the fourth one passed away due to an injury no one was kind enough to attend to. She was born to a disabled mother who had gone blind pumping out litters every six months, year after year (She did not make it).
Mishka became pregnant when she was herself a young puppy suffering from tick fever. Mishka had fallen extremely sick but she recovered like a total boss after vigorous treatment.

In addition to everything,  there are the nasty humans (it’s always humans, isn’t it?).  The residential society is the only home these dogs have known, and now its residents want them thrown out entirely. They hurl warnings and abuses, pressuring the caregivers to “remove all the dogs” under threats of poisoning and illegal relocation. This hostility recently came to an ugly head when they ganged up on us and forced us to stop feeding the dogs. Since we are outstation students staying in hostel accommodations, neither can we count on locals supporting us, nor can we ensure the safety of the dogs when we leave for our hometowns in a few months. We live in a place where cruelty to mute animals is common and normalized. We have come to the conclusion that Mishka deserves a forever home where normal dog-behaviour like barking, playing, and following humans around does not invite cruelty. Having grown up on our attention and affection, and after having beaten tick fever twice, we owe her a better life than to be on the mercy of fate.

Unfortunately, there are no homes for adult indie female dogs in India due to the existing strong, (unfounded) biases against them. But luckily Mishka has an opportunity to fly to Chicago into the care of the wonderful rescuers at the International Street Dog Foundation (ISDF).

Our expenses will include flight tickets, boarding, training,  microchipping, purchasing the crate and paperwork for sending her overseas.
