I am fundraising to seeking Rs 500x120 for University of Life

Why am I fundraising?

In the year 2007 we started "University of Life" formerly known as  ‘School without Walls’, a real-life experiential education program. We have been running this program for several resident interns at our ancestral home for several years now. We continue work with students despite various hindrances and hurdles in the last two years. We have used these very challenges and difficulties and made them the core of our curriculum for learning. So whether it is the recent issue of land grabbing, or of children in care and protection, we have made it a point to transform these obstacles into knowledge-based learning for the masses.

During the last two years, we have also had three students with dyslexia and minor mental illness. Hence, unlike previous years we couldn't meet expected self-generated funds through community services this year. Besides, there were also the above-mentioned issues which caused an extra financial burden. Syamantak University of Life appeals to all our friends to stand by us at this time for our cause and to contribute Rs. 500 (or more) for the cause. We need 100 friends who will support our cause by contributing Rs.500 or more to Syamantak “University of Life”. So please spread the message among your like- minded friends so that we achieve the target.

What do I plan to do with the funds?

Utilize the funds to overcome the fiscal deficit and create resource to make project sustainaible

University of life formerly known as School Without Walls, education may appear to others as vocational education, but is not. What we are aiming at is not vocational education, but education using real life activities as a medium. Students at  benefits from the way they learn things - by actually doing them. This is not something they learned in their school or college. Our emphasis is on learning while doing in real life. We believe that working with your hands is what teaches you best.

“Every dream will be challenged!”

We have overcome many obstacles and suffered pain while achieving any meaningful target at Syamantak  “University of Life”. Well, rarely, a dream or goal comes true easily and effortlessly, without delays, problems or hurdles. And the bigger your dreams, the tougher your challenges, the more ambitious your goals, the more likely it is that you will face difficulties on your way towards it.

This summer Syamantak launched its Joint Liability Group “Swayam”, India’s 1st J.L.G of young students.

Wednesday  17th August, 2016 on the auspicious day of Pateti, a Parsi New Year & full moon day of Shravan, Narli Poornima, Syamantak is adding another feather in its cap by Launching ONLINE STORE of “SWAYAM”.
Our online store is efforts of all the dedicated Syamantak interns who have worked passionately to accomplish this dream. It’s an in-house developed on-line store at Dhamapur village.

We greatly appreciate and look forward to your continued support.

With funds raised we are able to manage with the expenses for monsoon maintenance in our 80 years old structure. We also managed to initiate India's first Join-Liability-Group (JLG) of Syamantak intern Students - "SWAYAM". This year start-up of University of Life - "Swayam" made sales of Rs. 40,000 within 3 days at the Kokan Fruit Festival@Goa from bi-products of neglected fruits and flowers developed at University of Life. We also won prize for our Red Hibiscus Syrup and pickles for the third consecutive year. The resident interns not just made sales but also provided training to the marginal farmers and women group. Three J.L.G groups were formed and were given training on product development, packaging, marketing and licensing support. Fruit & Flower Festival of Moti Talav - 2016 was organised by University of Life in collaboration with Sawantwadi Municipal corporation. Each J.L.G group made sales of 40-60 thousand in the fest.
