The summer holidays are coming to an end this month and back to school shopping fever is catching up with parents and children across regions of India.
While many are buying new uniforms, backpacks, shoes and school supplies, school children from many underprivileged families may forego these basic necessities due to affordability reasons.
Through this campaign I wish to raise funds to purchase and distribute school shoes and socks to these mostly slum children studying in four government schools (listed below) near HAL in Bangalore.
(1) Government Kannada Medium Higher Primary School, Vimanapura.
(2) Government Kannada Medium Lower Primary School, Nellorepura.
(3) Government Telugu Medium Higher Primary School, Nellorepura.
(4) Government Kannada Medium Lower Primary School, Vibhutipura.
I have chosen these schools for a few reasons:
I have been a donor & have visited these schools as part of CSR activities.
These schools are equipped with basic infrastructure such as fans, safe drinking water, lights, benches, computers, etc. (thanks to the support from CSR activities).
For many years now I have seen children come to these schools in bare feet simply because their parents are unable to/don’t buy shoes for them and no shoe donation happens in their schools.
I believe that the path to a bright academic year should start off in dignity; If you share this belief, please join hands with me in this campaign. All funds raised from this campaign will be utilized solely for the purchase and distribution of school shoes & socks for these students.
Thanks a lot for your support!
I am an engineer by profession, sociotechnology entrepreneur interested in volunteering for social causes in education and community development. I have been a donor & volunteer for these schools through CSR programs. During my visits, I have seen many students come to school in bare feet. This idea to raise funds for these students came to me when I was buying shoes for the academic year and thought if I could do something for these 350-400 students so they can wear shoes to school in June.
Please look forward to updates and progress on this website.
