Dr Ashok Alapati, a 30-year-old, budding orthopaedic surgeon suffered a massive heart attack on the  25th of October while attending to patients in the orthopaedic ward at St. Johns Hospital. He was rushed to Emergency and resuscitation was attempted. He underwent an emergency cardiac bypass and is on an ECMO pump (heart-lung machine obtained from Narayana Hrudyalaya) in the ICU at St. Johns being managed with the best possible care. His postoperative period has been complicated, requiring daily surgical interventions and multiple transfusions of blood.

Ashok an alumnus of St John’s,  completed his MBBS and served in medically underserved areas for 2 years as he always wanted to serve the underprivileged. He realised that he can be of better service if he specialises and he returned to St John's to pursue his MS in orthopaedics. His dream was to establish a hospital in his hometown, a medically underserved area.

Ashok is a wonderful person from a simple loving family from Sindhanur, a small town near Raichur, Karnataka. His mother is a primary school teacher and father has mostly been homebound due to heart failure. Ashok was a very hard-working student, coming from a rural background, struggled against all odds to get to where he has reached. We hope that we can support his family to tide over the event both emotionally and financially with your help.

Ashok is fighting, and we are trying our best to raise the funds for meeting his medical expenses which hikes every day and we hope that each one of you can help us in every way to deal with the event and the increasing costs.
