We are a team of 5 Gandhi Fellows, currently working in 18 Government Primary schools of Gurugram District, Haryana, India. The last one and half year engagement with school children helped us to develop understanding on how important the immediate environment in bringing the quality in learning and teaching processes. After our efforts to paint the walls with teaching aids in 8 schools, we are able to observe the kindling curiosity and imagination among children. To ensure this, irrespective of differences in pace of learning and grasping ability, for a longer run we finally thought of an endeavour through painting the school building elements like walls, doors, floor, ceiling making them interactive and child friendly which is referred to Building as Learning Aid(BaLA).
Since the focus is on the needs of children and teachers in a school, the painted new physical environment could not only become more congenial, sensitive and helpful but also contribute meaningfully towards learning and pedagogy. This means our initiative will be helping every child to learn from their own speed and level, by doing personally and independently. At the same time, this gives an opportunity for each child to learn in peer group as teachers will facilitate the classroom activities using BaLA. After coming up with the contents with support and opinion from all the teachers and school heads of our 5 schools, we are now finding our primary need for our initiative as Funds. We are seeking help for supporting our initiative by mobilising funds which would help us to start and complete our drive during last week of March 2018. The collected funds would be used in 5 Government Primary Schools (GPS SHIVAJI NAGAR, GPS SIKANDERPUR BADHA, GPS KHERKI MAJRA, GPS HARSARU, GPS ARJUN NAGAR) of Gurugram and distributed in the following manner:

- Painting Raw material resources and Labor Cost- Rs.2,96,400 (Rs.1200 per painting (5 ft. X 4 ft.)
- White Wash- Rs.60,000 (Rs.30,000 per school)
