Grace Charitable Home for children (GFCT) is a 11 year organisation for children from Bangalore. The organisation is run by a few individuals who left all pleasures in life to give life to many orphan kids. The orphanage houses children from 2 years to 18 years.

 

        All the children are provided education. However, financial constraints abound. The children go to private schools and the cost of providing good education is huge, and the institution need financial help badly. The orphanage also needs support staff whose wages is an added cost. Food is provided with the support of well-wishers who help on a monthly basis and the fund is used to run the kitchen. The orphanage functions out of rented properties and has already shifted premises twice.

The kids occasionally share their bitter experiences before coming to the orphanage. The kids are happy and feel at home in the current premises.

 

They moved to the current property 4 years back. The owner had some shelter for 24 already available, but in bad condition. He was kind enough, to allow construction of shelters and toilets on their premises, and with God’s grace, a space enough to shelter 100 kids and staff was constructed. With the death of the owner, the organisation is under pressure to move out, from relatives, as they want to sell the property. 

If they have to move out, they lose all the money they have invested in the building. It is extremely difficult to find another place that can house around 100 kids and the supporting staff. 

Alternatively, owners son has offered the portion of the land they have built the shelter and toilets for a price of 1.5 crores, and the rest of the land will be sold to some third party. They have been given 3 months’ time and 1 month is already over.
