GHSS (Gandhinagar Higher Secondary School, kumara park, Bangalore) is 75 years old institution started by Sri.MPL Shasthri. It had been a beacon of quality education for better part of last century. In it's glory days, the school attracted the best teachers and the cream of students in Bangalore. However, today it is in shambles.
Due to various reasons, quality students started deserting the school in favor of integrated schools offering education from primary to high school. Today, it is able to attract students from only poor neighborhoods. Student strength has been dwindling constantly. It has become difficult to run the school even though it is a government aided school.
This june, the school completes 75 years. This platinum Jubilee occasion comes only once in the life time of an institution. The school wants to celebrate this year by organizing various functions throughout the year for the benefit of the students. Management wants to honor the teachers and involve the alumni during the Platinum Jubilee day on July 9th. School needs lot of financial help in handling day-to-day operations. Since the current batch of students come from poor background, school needs to take care of the stationary supplies and study guides. Students need a computer lab to develop essential skills in computer literacy. Management wants to take the students out on a study tour. School needs to provide them skill development training. Students need health checkups. School plans to distribute uniforms and stationary supplies.
Some of us, old students, have joined our hands together to help our beloved school. We have been volunteering and helping the school during the academic year of 2016-17. You can find more details at below link:
