Sandhya is a 14year old girl hailing from Darbhanga, Bihar who's father, Umesh works as my house help in the city of Kolkata. 

Sandhya has one older brother and one younger sister, and since Umesh cannot support all of them with his meagre salary, she lives with her maternal grandparents. Currently studying in class 8, her grandparents are insisting on getting her married. There is nothing much Umesh can do but agree because of financial constraints. The boy who they have picked is 20years old, and a dowry has been agreed upon.

I was baffled upon hearing this story. I have done what I personally could, and have provided Umesh with enough to get Sandhya back from her maternal grandparent's house and call off the marriage. However, without adequate financial support, this will be only temporary and Umesh will have to give into his in-law's demands.
