8-Year-Old Omkar Is Fighting Brain Fever. Your Support Can Save Him

I am Amrita Mishra working with Oracle India, Mumbai. I have started this campaign to help 8-year-old Omkar fighting for his life at Lifeline hospital, Thane (West). He is suffering from Brain TBM.

Omkar was a healthy child 2 months back. Unfortunately he was diagnosed brain fever which leads over accumulation of water in brain causing damage to the brain nerves and tissue.

He remains unconscious and has been operated twice already for VP shunt which helps in removing extra water from brain. He would undergoing another brain surgery shortly in next few days to insert VP shunt again as the current VP shunt is not able to handle the water accumulation in brain.

Omkar's father Mr. Alankar Mogare works with J Kumar Infraprojects as a civil foreman. He has already spent more than 5 lakhs on his treatment and has taken loan from various sources. His annual income is less 1.2 lacs per annum. Omkar's mother has sold all her jewellery to save her child.

Omkar's father cant afford this expensive treatment and as per Doctor cannot predict how many more months Omkar would have to stay in hospital in ICU.
Request everyone to contribute whatever small amount we can and also spread the word across for help to save this kid's life. Our small effort can make a great difference in someone's life.

Please feel free to message me in case you have any queries about this campaign or would like to know more about Omkar.

12th April 2017
Dear Supporters,

It has been little over 2 months since little Omkar passed away. The parents have been doing their best to recover from this tragic loss and get back to their routine lives. We share this update with some important news. Most of funds raised for Omkar were used for his treatment. The parents had also received help offline where the funds were transferred to Alankar Mogare's account. Post reconciliation, a total of 3 lakhs rupees was found unused.

Most of supporters recommended the funds be utilised to help kids who are in need of medical help. So per Alankar Mogare's request, we donated 50,000 INR to 6 kids whose parents are fighting similar battles that Omkar's parents were few months ago. Sharing their names below.

Tanaya: Tanaya is a 16 years old girl from Kolkata who has been diagnosed with Relapsed Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer last year and needs a stem cell transplant and aggressive chemotherapy to be cancer free. Her father is a peon in a private firm. His employer, Kausik is fundraising on Milaap for Tanaya’s treatment.

Baby Ganyasri: Baby Ganyasri is 2-year-old from Tamil Nadu. She has been diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia and needs a stem cell transplant. Her father is very poor and has already spent  2-3 lakhs on treatment and medicines. His monthly income is not more than 9000 INR. A stem cell transplant requires 10 lakhs and there is no way her family can arrange for the same. Parents, Vinodh and Jayashri have been working hard but with their meagre wages they can barely afford food and shelter for the family.

Baby Akshaya: Baby Akshaya will be 1 year old but her birthday might be a painful one without immediate medical attention. She suffered from severe scald burns on 14 March, 2017 and she is currently admitted in Apollo Hospitals and is undergoing treatment for cleaning and collagen. The estimated cost of the treatment is roughly around 4 lakhs. The parents do not have enough financial support to pay for their daughter's crucial treatment. Any help to save Baby Akshaya would mean the world to this family.
