Cataract is one of the major causes of blindness in India as well as rest of world. If efforts are taken at community and remote areas, with doorstep approach, we can work to prevent blindness and other complications of cataract. Attempts made for eradication of blindness is achievable by muliti-institutional efforts which we are also part of movement. Though target may not be achieved as per WHO slogan, our stand would be always to keep in focus cataract and undertake cataract surgeries with use of high class technology.
It is reported by many eye institutes that phecosurgery and laser cataract surgery has almost rare chances of infection. Our maximum efforts to use high end technology are indications of our quality surgical output. We believe that every human being deserve for best treatment despite any financial position.

Surgery is only best option to treat cataract & so to avoid blindness & other complications of cataract we need to find cataract case early and get operated with advance phaecoemulsification surgical facilities. Strict sterilization & surgical protocols need to be followed for cataract surgery. And properly trained staff is needed which is guided by experience eye surgeon. So we are committed to give modern surgical & technological facilities to needy & non affording patients
We have set our goals or target to perform cataract surgeries for poor & non affording people according to their socio-economical condition.
Our Monthly Goal or Target:
Minimum 20 Free Cataract surgeries for poor people & Minimum 20 discounted cataract surgeries with 50 to 75 percent less charges according to socioeconomic profile. 4 cataract detection camp monthly will be organized at various areas according to planning.
We and our teams are committed for Quality Phaco-emulsification cataract surgeries with strict sterilization & modern surgical protocols & with proper friendly and empathetic post operative care. We are sure & confident that with funding supports & with our strongly motivated & dedicated team we will contribute to society for vision 2020 mission very efficiently.

Glaucoma is second most cause of blindness after cataract, If efforts taken at community level and remote areas, with doorstep approach, we can prevent blindness due to glaucoma. Attempts made for eradication of blindness is achievable by muliti-institutional efforts which we are also part of movement. Though target may not be achieved as per WHO slogan, our stand would be always to keep in focus glaucoma and undertake different preventive and curative measures with use of high class technology.
Many eye institutes and social organizations also shifted their focus on glaucoma screening, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and awareness about glaucoma and other retinopathy secondary to diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy. As glaucoma may not present symptoms but slowly it cause loss of vision which is permanent, due to loss of nerve cell of optic disc.
Best option to treat glaucoma depends upon individual’s response to medicines and surgery. To prevent blindness we need to find glaucoma cases early and also need to start topical treatment with antiglaucoma drugs. Laser iridectomy, surgical trabeculectomy, silicon stent implant are other options available. Strict sterilization & surgical protocols need to be followed for glaucoma surgery. And properly trained staff is needed which is guided by experience eye surgeon. So we are committed to give proper medication, surgical & technological facilities to needy & non affording patients.

We have set our goals or target to perform consistent glaucoma screening at free of cost, medication, monitoring response to topical therapy & other treatment modalities for poor & non affording people according to their socio-economical condition. We have decided for maximum glaucoma screening at urban and remote areas free of cost, also medicines or glaucoma treatment will be given free of cost. Surgical measures, Nd-yag laser iridectomy, trabeculoplsty at affordable rates around 50% or free as per resource available.
Monthly Target:
1) Minimum 2 glaucoma screening & treatment camp per month.
2) Minimum 10 free glaucoma surgeries per month. Minimum 10 discounted glaucoma surgeries with 50 to 75 percent less charges according to socioeconomic profile.

Vitamin A Deficiency cases mostly occur in illiterate, tribal & poor people who because of malnutrition can’t get enough vitamin A. So it causes night blindness, corneal xerosis, corneal ulcers & blindness due to corneal opacity. These eye conditions are preventable through health education, provision of proper nutrition & vitamin A distribution. So to prevent blindness because of vitamin A deficiency, Paranubhuti Foundation has plans to organize activities which include health education, distribution of nutriious food, distribution of vitamin A supplements, etc. Mostly poor people from urban, rural & tribal people will be targeted to prevent & control blindness among them. Children will be mostly targeted as to prevent blindness at early stage.
Monthly target: Minimum 500 beneficiaries to be covered under this program monthly.
It will require proper staff, travelling facilities, nutritional supplements, Vitamin A vials & capsules. This will be done as preventive measures & eye disease cases due to vitamin A deficiency will be treated according to case detection during our activities.

Eye disease cases like corneal ulcers, uvietis, diabetic retinopathy & other eye diseases which can cause complications & blindness will be diagnosed on routine camps & will be followed up & treated accordingly.

Objectives & Goals:
  • Control & prevention of blindness through detection of eye diseases at earliest through screening camps & other diagnostic activities.
  • Increase awareness about eye care & eye diseases which cause blindness so that blindness can be prevented through contribution from community.
  • All eye disease cases should get proper medical & surgical treatment earliest before complications or blindness happens.
  • Prevention of complications & blindness even after surgical treatments through proper case follow up, counseling & education.
  • Prevention of eye diseases causing blindness through prophylactic measures.
Government agencies & other organization are working to prevent blindness but the magnitude of problem is very high. And so our contribution to control & prevent blindness through our project is also very important. Millions of eye disease cases occur in communities every year including all parts of India & they need to be diagnosed & treated at early stages. Due to poverty & lack of knowledge many eye disease are not diagnosed & treated at early stage. Also population of India is very high & increasing very rapidly. The present healthcare facilities in India aren’t able to provide complete quality eye care solutions to people of India & so our project is 100 percent justified. Also it is justified according to data & surveys done by WHO, Government of India & other agencies.

Mostly on priority basis, poor, helpless, neglected, low income group people are our targeted beneficiaries including urban poor, rural poor & tribal people who have less knowledge about eye care & eye disease & get less or no medical support. We are targeting people from Palghar Thane & Mumbai Suburban districts. The potential beneficiaries will include all the population of Palghar, Thane & Mumbai Suburban district from which we will search the exact beneficiaries through screening camps & case detection. Also health education & awareness activity will cover random people from this population according to awareness program is organized. Also poor people who are aware of eye disease can also directly come to us for medical help.

Beneficiaries are selected from targeted population through screening camps through which eye check up is done & eye disease cases are found. Then according to the nature of eye disease, beneficiaries are provided proper medical & surgical treatment & also post treatment care is done. Socioeconomic profile of beneficiaries is judged according to documents they have, living standards & survey of areas where beneficiaries are located.  Beneficiaries who are aware of their eye disease & conditions can directly come to us for medical & surgical treatment. Minimum 20 Free Cataract surgeries for poor people & minimum 20 discounted cataract surgeries with 50 to 75 percent less charges according to socioeconomic profile will be done. Minimum 2 eye disease screening & treatment camp per month will be organized with estimated beneficiaries of 400 to 800 people per month.  Minimum 10 free glaucoma surgeries per month is our minimum target. Minimum 10 discounted glaucoma surgeries with 50 to 75 percent less charges according to socioeconomic profile will be done. Numbers of exact beneficiaries are accordingly case detection at screening camps & that can be only approximately mentioned here. Also these types of activities can only be done randomly & we can only have an approximate estimate. Making decision of fix numbers will not lead us to proposed objectives & goals as prevalence of disease eye diseases are very high. We are committed that our services are reached to proper beneficiaries & we could contribute to prevention & control of blindness program to maximum extent.

We can understand what blindness can do to the lives of people. We can try to understand by closing our eyes & doing our activities without using our eyes. So prevention & control of blindness is very noble cause for any particular part of population. So, due to our contribution to control & prevention of blindness, many eyes will be saved & that will be responsible for their good lives & progress. Like military defend our borders, we care for eyes of people. Like at borders bullet can come from anywhere & anytime, people can become blind if we don’t provide medical & surgical help & so we need to be ready for our part. This protection & care is what the social milestones we will achieve.
