Nyoma is a place like you have never seen before. Towering mountains, white plateau and pristine waters. Unfortunately, because it’s so remote, it has almost been forgotten. The Changthang, Nyoma Block is considered as one of the most backward regions in Ladakh. Additionally, in this beautiful land, the absence of a strong education system, has become a serious barrier in providing young people with the means to cope with life.

The children here need opportunities to explore their talents, experiment and experience different interests & aspirations. And what better way than to introduce them to the world of football!

We see football as a:

• powerful tool to bring together people from different ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. 
• motivational tool that teaches how to ˜bounce back” from challenging setbacks and strive towards life's goals.

It is with a lot of hope that SAVE (Students Association for Village Education), Nyoma wish to organise the First football tournament for the village schools in the district. We expect the tournament to last 3 days. The district administration has come out in support of the tournament and has agreed to let the teachers and students skip school and attend the tournament, provided we can fund the expenses for this.
 
We have assembled a strong team for this. This includes:

- Coaches from Sparky football, partners with ‘Coaches across Continents’
- Sessions on importance of Values in play with Toybank volunteers!
 
While the coaches & the experts have all agreed to work pro-bono, funds are needed for the training material, transportation, boarding & lodging of the 220 participating children for 3 days.  In addition, we will build permanent goal posts and a 'field' that will make soccer a permanent game in Changthang.
