27 years old male Bhupender Giri Goswami, from Madhya Pradesh is a case of Severe Aplastic Anemiaa type of Blood Cancer. He developed viral Hepatitis and orbital cellulitis (due to which he has lost his vision). Having had an episode of fits his family brought him to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi for treatment.
He was admitted on 15/09/17 and Allogenic Stem Cell Transplantation was done on 20/11 /17 the donor being the father.
“I am a labourer and the only breadwinner for the family and my son has been diagnosed with blood cancer. My 27-year-old daughter in law and 3 years old grandson are also dependent on me financially. I have already sold my house and spent 25 lakhs for the bone marrow transplant. The PMO and the CM also helped me pay the current hospital bills. Now the doctor says he requires further ICU stay. I have exhausted all my finances and won’t be able to afford further treatment. I am afraid I might lose my son and a 3-year-old child would be left without a father.”
He was shifted to the ICU on 23rd November 2017 and is currently on mechanical ventilation. He has received multiple blood transfusions, antibiotics, antiviral, antifungal drugs and is also undergoing cycles of chemotherapy.
The treating doctors are of the opinion that he is likely to require ICU and ventilator care along with hemodialysis support for another 2 weeks and the cost of further treatment is approximately 20 lakhs.
This is an appeal to all to spare a thought for the unfortunate fellow Indian and donate to collectively raise Rs 20 lakhs to help him pay the anticipated hospital expenses.
