As we write this, Abhilash is battling a brain stroke caused by a blood clot. He has been on ventilator support since 31st May.
Abhilash underwent a second surgery for Black fungus Infection on 28th May since the  infection had spread up to his skull.

It has been 23 days since Abhilash has been in the hospital. None of us, not even the doctors could have foreseen that he would go through so much. But as he fights for his life, to be back with us, we have to ensure that the treatment doesn't stop! His family has drained all resources already. This ordeal is beyond their means. And thus we come to you again, to ask for your help to raise this money so that Abhilash can be back with us , healthy and strong!

Abhilash is an alumnus of TISS Tuljapur (2014-2017) and TISS Mumbai (CODP 2017-19) and an active grassroots worker.

He, along with his sister, Juhi, were admitted for COVID treatment on 11th May 2021. While Juhi recovered successfully, Abhilash was further diagnosed with mucormycosis (Black Fungus) on 20th May 2021. The infection spread from his jaw to the floor of his eye socket. With the infection spreading faster, doctors advised immediate surgery and he was operated on the night of the diagnosis. The surgery was successful, but the post-operation care is a long way to go.

Close to INR 14L have gone in Abhilash’s treatment alone with 2 surgeries for Mucormycosis and another 10L are projected to spent only for Amphotericin Injections all of these calculations are notwithstanding the hospital charges, charges for Intensive Care Unit, costs for medication, physiotherapy, counselling etc. . His family has held together with all material and emotional support possible so far. His father is a small business owner that has been impacted by COVID; managing the treatment of his two children (Abhilash and his sister, Juhi) has not been easiest, yet they are hopeful.
