Sumithra mahila welfare society running a residential school for disabled children from past 15 years in srikakulam Distt of Andhra Pradesh under the name Saranya( The House of mercy).
The School caters facilities like education Residence and livelihood for the disabled children(Hearing Impaired and Mentally Retarded) within the age group of 04-18 Years.
The school was a vision of smt Yenda Sreedevi who established the society named SUMITHRA MAHILA WELFARE SOCIETY in the year 1999 with 6 other well wishers. SARANYA (Residential School for disabled children) is her prime importance. She has been working for the past 25 years in the field and graduated in Spl Bed (HI and MR). She has been receiving several awards for her work and keeps herself updated by participating in several courses, seminars and national workshops conducted by several organizations.
Saranya was initially started in a rented building in Ragolu Vill of srikakulam District. within two years after establishing the school, it received wide appreciation from the people of Srikakulam District. District megistrate visited the school and allocated a Govt Building to run the school. Thus the school has been shifted to Srikakulam Distt.
Presently the school is providing residence and education to 40 disabled children. However due to increased maintenance and need for special teachers (for special education) and special equipment, the society is facing immense pressure to smoothly run the school.Which is causing limited facilities to the children.
we need a helping hand and to support our children for their better life and education.
