Malnutrition refers to when a person’s diet does not provide enough nutrients or the right balance of nutrients for optimal health.Causes of malnutrition majorly includes low income available to the people. Since the people do not get proper meal on time, there becomes an inadequate supply of nutrients to the tissues and bones in the body. According to a report,it have been encountered that about 11 percent of the population are undernourished. The prevalence of undernutrition is highest among the children under the age of 5. The current scenario has seen a tremendous increases of the number of cases of malnutrition and one of the main reason behind it is COVID-19 pandemic. These pandemic days have been tough for everyone but people with low income have suffered the most.People didn't get meal on time and this has resulted in malnutrition among the people.Malnutrition can cause a lot of major health problems and diseases like tuberculosis, hypoglycemia etc.Children are particularly at risk and can become hypoglycemic after 4 to 6 hours without food. Many aid groups have found that giving cash assistance (or cash vouchers) is more effective than donating food. Particularly in areas where food is available but unaffordable, giving cash assistance is a cheaper, faster, and more efficient way to deliver help to the hungry. We as a responsible citizen of the society should contribute in eradicating this problem from our society. Though a single person can not bring a huge change but as we know,"small efforts lead to bigger roads." We on our small level can contribute to help eradicate malnutrition. It's high time that we think about our society and help poor people become malnutrition free.
