Help Dr. Uday Modi Build A Home For Abandoned Parents

Meet the man who wakes up every morning with an unshakable resolve to feed close to 200 helpless senior citizens, free of cost. These elderly people are unable to put together a decent meal for themselves due to numerous reasons but Uday Modi's tiffin service ensures they get a decent meal every single day. It all started when Dr. Modi moved to Bhayandar, Mumbai from a small village called Amreli in Gujarat to practice alternative medicine in the city of dreams.

"One of my patients showed up at my door. He must have been over 70 years with a chronically ill wife at home. This couple was old, poor without even 10 rupees to buy avada pao. He said he needed food, it moved me and that is when I decided to feed the needy elderly for nothing in return," shared Dr. Modi. The tiffin usually contains 6 chappatis and a curry along with dal and rice. Sundays are special therefore home-made dessert and farsan (a Gujarati type of savoury snack) also join the parcel. "We have two tempo and 4 dealer vans that help in transporting these tiffins all around the locality. I work as an artist in serials and TV shows, my additional income along with help and support from family and friends suffices. However, I am on a constant lookout for ways to help more and more people every day," noted Dr. Modi.

Feeding 200 people, that too from your own pocket, doesn't come easy. Dr. Modi has a family of his own - a college going daughter, a son who is studying computer science and a supportive wife whom he calls his inspiration and courage. Close to 3 lakh rupees is spent every month to ensure regular food supply to these abandoned elderly. Despite all the challenges, Dr. Modi and his family are undeterred and more than committed towards their unconditional seva to the aged. "My chest swells with pride when my kids come back and give me tiny bits of their savings to be put in for the seva. Lots of people come forward and support, I am sure it will go on," Dr. Modi shared.

In a city where people come to realise gigantic dreams, Dr. Modi has only one desire, "I want to build a Dikra nu ghar for these old people - a home like their own son's place where everything is taken care of not only just food.

Greetings dear supporters,

Hope you have been keeping safe and well. I am Dr. Uday Modi, the organizer of this fundraiser and I would like to thank you all for your very kind and generous contribution to this campaign. Here's a small update for your kind perusal.

We have secured a place of around 25000 square feet area, near Uttan, to build a home for the aged, out of which the construction will happen for only around 8000 square feet as of now because it is a green zone, and further permission is required for further construction. Construction work had already been initiated on the plot purchased with base of building in making. A road which connects with the Maa Baap Nu Mandir plot to the main road has been made.

The bulk of concrete work and road has been built from the main place to the main road. So far, Approx. ₹1.29 Cr has been withdrawn from the campaign to the bank account of Late Shree Himmatlal Harjivandas Modi Charitable Trust. Here are the transaction reference numbers for the same -
₹13,245.79 - 814111388640
₹25,00,000 - N009190187151058
₹20,00,000 - N031190194181628
₹25,00,000 - N050190201578667
₹10,18,514.76 - N086190215656756
$417.71 - 30B1A494
$69,507.29 - 2778C7A4

Around Rs.80 lakh has been used in purchasing the land plot, and for proceedings of the construction.

As of now, our initiative has benefited around 100 people and we expect to serve and help more in the coming future. We have 11 people in our team for the cooking and delivery of food. We have recently placed a fund withdrawal request of ₹26,80,266.52 which will be used for this ongoing construction work as well as in procuring food to those in need. If more funds are required for the completion of the construction and building the necessary infrastructure to care for more and more aged and needy people, we shall keep you posted.

Proper maintenance of the place and our collective and enthusiastic aspiration of helping more and more people through this cause will require your blessings and support.

Warmest regards and thanks,
Dr. Uday Modi

Dear Supporters,

Here's a quick update.

Due to heavy rains in Mumbai over the last few weeks, we've paused the construction of building. We are looking to restart with the construction once it recedes a bit. We shall keep you posted.

Thank you for all the love and support.

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for all the love and support. I am humbled by the amount of support you have given us.

The Bhoomi Pujan was a success! I am attaching few pictures :)

We have already started by fencing the borders, and we will be starting the construction work soon. The proposed building will have two floors (ground floor and first floor). This will help us to accommodate around 80 to 85 individuals at least. The entire construction of the building is estimated to cost us another crore. Therefore, I am increasing the goal amount by 50 lakhs.

We have donors coming forward to support us with the construction by donating fans, tube lights and other similar accessories. It would help us immensely if we could once again receive your support to help fund the construction too.

You have given us the strength to stand strong and have faith in this dream. Please keep supporting us and sharing the campaign with your friends and family so that we can achieve what we started out to.

God bless you all!

Warmly,
Dr. Uday Modi
