Construction sites are dangerous, but Rocky lived a charmed life. One time, construction debris fell on him, leading to a deep wound on his back. I managed to get him some treatment, and that was that.
Rocky and I stayed friends, and I always stopped to say hi to him on my morning and evening walks with my own dog, Chia. (Chia doesn't care much for Rocky - he eats into her attention time!)
Precisely 10 days ago, some loose shuttering fell on Rocky and injured his leg. On speaking to his owner (not parent), he said he'd gotten him X-rayed and it was just a small injury, no breakage.
However, when the injury didn't seem to be healing, and I spotted Rocky howling with pain, I confronted the caretaker. Rocky seems to have lost 6-7 kg over 10 days, and isn't eating at all. The caretaker then confessed that he hadn't got any treatment done, except some mild painkillers. On taking Rocky to the hospital, we discovered a huge break in his rear leg. The caretaker promptly washed his hands off Rocky and decided to tie him up far away from home to get rid of him. (The not-my-problem syndrome)
My wife and I rescued him from almost certain death or permanent disability, and are trying to get him the best of medical care and rehabilitation. It's going to be a longish journey, and possibly expensive. Hence, it'll be great if you would like to help this boy find his feet (literally!) again.
