Story
‘Riders for a cause’ is a sensitisation awareness campaign involving all the Bikers of Bangalore. This campaign is an initiative of Sightsavers. The aim of this campaign is to promote the importance of eye care and prevent children residing in impoverished regions from going blind due to refractive error.
Why Riders?
We believe the bikers participating in this campaign understand and support the society along with their passion for bikes, long-rides, adventure, fun and companionship etc. These riders aim to have a constant and strong mechanism to aid charity in different aspects, the most important one being to fulfil the responsibility as responsible citizens.

He/ She needs to spread awareness for a cause while they are riding. The rider will be provided all the necessary promotional collateral for eg. t-shirts , flags etc. from the organisation. He / She also needs to raise funds for the cause.
Purpose of the campaign:
As per the WHO, 80% of blindness is the world is preventable yet we find in all walks of our life children, women and adults crippled by visual difficulties. In 2015 alone, we were able to conduct 1.6 million eye screenings in India; 1, 32,144 sight restoration surgeries; and provide 1, 22,138 spectacles for people in need while working in 72 Indian districts. This year we have an estimated target of reaching out to 160,000 people with cataract surgeries across 97 districts from the state.

"This is just not about riding but we are doing this for a noble cause. In association with Sight Savers India (www.sightsaversindia.in), we are attempting this rally to raise funds and assess underprivileged children for their eye surgeries/operations and promote equal opportunities for visually impaired ones among us. For us, this is the driving force.
This being a fundraising campaign, funds raised from this event will be optimally utilised to undertake cataract surgeries mentioned above.
