I am a Fellow with Teach For India and I teach 58 children of 8th Standard with my co-fellow Chandan Sharma in an under-resourced school in Khanpur community in Delhi, India.
Our students are aged between 13-15 years and belong to low income families where education is usually not the top priority. Even though they are very young, these children have the responsibility of financially supporting their families by sitting at their parent’s shop, doing manual labor post school hours etc.
Despite all these challenges they are really passionate about learning and go to great lengths just to attend school.
We, as teachers have to make sure that their dreams are fulfilled and that they get proper education with the required support. However, in the current state of the class where over 85% of the class is at a grade 5 level it is imperative that we go beyond the current resources at hand to be able to get them to the required level.
Therefore we are reaching out to you to request your support to be able to provide these children with the required resources, the details of which are provided below:

- English self-reading text books- Rs. 34,800 (Rs. 600*58) – for outside syllabus learning to improve English
- Stationary- Rs. 58,000 (Rs. 1000*58) - to equip the students with the basic tools to facilitate learning (had to increase budget as requirement increased)
- Sports Equipment– Rs. 42,000 (Rs. 1,000*42) – to provide the needed equipment to our Class Hockey, Football and Cricket teams that aspire to represent themselves in state level tournaments
- Learning Centre Rent- Rs. 72,000 (Rs. 6,000*12) - to provide the students extra classes post school hours to strengthen their learning + providing them a space where they can practice their personal hobbies too. Students call our Learning Centre - Infinity.
- Class Logistics + Accessories- Rs. 4000 - to re-equip the class with boards and cupboards in proper condition
