Mr Udhayakumar aged 29 years lost his parents in a road traffic accident in Pollachi at a young age of 8 years. He along with his younger brother was brought up by his aged grandmother. He started having high blood pressure and facial swelling from 13 years of age. Doctors who cared for him did a renal biopsy and said he has focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a condition with massive proteinuria and poor outcome for kidneys. He ended up needing hemodialysis which he was undergoing for sustaining life. He had hepatitis c infection which was treated with financial help from this hospital. At this point in time, his best chance of survival is to undergo a renal transplant. His younger brother is willing to offer him one of his kidneys. The cost of the transplant is Rs. 4,50,000. This boy works in a printing press as temporary help in his spare time. He would greatly appreciate any help in kind towards the transplant workup.
