Why am I fundraising?
Rekha R Pillai Aged 28 (My elder sister) , is currently going through the toughest period in her life. She was leading a normal simple life with her husband and 3 Year old baby Boy and all were awaiting to welcome the new member to their family.
Everything turned in the wrong way when she visited the local hospital on (15-03-2016) due to tiredness and fever. She was then referred to Kottayam Medical College by the local doctor and Medical College diagnosed that her heart was fully infected & less chance for survival of both baby and mother. To make things worse in her life she got a stroke and got half paralyzed while in Kottayam Medical College. She was then taken to Amritha Hospital (Full name & Location )were emergency operations were carried out (no other option was left) to take the baby out & get the heart valve replaced. Both operation got completed successfully by god grace.
Rekha delivered a Baby Boy (19-03-2016) & as the baby was premature(7 and half months) he is kept in NICU. Baby is having some issues ( decresing platelets count) and still waiting to see his mother.
Rekha is still in ICU and doctors hope that she can recover 60% from the stroke.
Expected Medical Expense:
For the consecutive operation carried out to take the baby out & replacement of heart valve, Operation costed 4.2 lakhs. The family managed to find that money with the coordination of relatives (even they have pledged the gold). Family need to settle the remaining amount to hospital in the coming days, In addition to this around 20000 Rs. is required on a daily basis to meet the medical expense of mother and baby. Expenses are on the higher side as both baby and mother are in ICU
Total Expense for this case is expected to be around 10,00000 Rs. The family will be able to arrange 1,00000 Rs. more & they have no other option for the remaining amount.
Medical History of Rekha:
By birth Rekha had a small hole in her heart & was under medication, Regular check-up was also being carried out. She was recommended by doctors for a normal married life.
Financial Condition of the Family:
The family is not financially sound .
Rekha’s Father is a farmer (Daily Wages) . Belong to BPL Category
Rekha’s Husband (Sooraj) works in a private firm in Bombay.
Rekha was working as nurse in Bombay for last one year.
Family is trying all options to survive this crisis.
What do I plan to do with the funds?
Funds collected will be directed to the hospital for Rekha's treatment. This is also to ensure that the funds are only used for treatment and not utilized by the family for any other purpose.
