At the age of 10, Rani was diagnosed with Sickle cell disease. A red blood cell (RBC) disorder that changes the shape of RBC from a disc to a crescent like shape (sickle). When this happens, the sickle-shaped cells block vessels and obstruct the flow of oxygen to various parts of the body. The best chance of survival is a successful Bone marrow transplant from a well-matched donor.

Fortunately for Rani, her elder sister has demonstrated a 100% match and will be the donor. She also has an elder brother. Rani lives with her parents in Chikkasandra, Bangalore. Father- Gurumulla works at a local Garment factory and Ratnamma is a house wife. Gurumulla earns around 8000 per month.

She has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last 8 years in various hospitals in Mysore, Bangalore and now with no other option left turned to BMT at Narayana Hrudayalaya. Rani was determined not to discontinue her studies and has been attending school/college in between her treatments also. She is currently studies in Triveni college.

Gurumulla has been paying for the treatment till now by managing with his own income. As BMT is a huge operation that can cost a lot, it is beyond his means to pay for the surgery. Also, having two other children makes it even harder as he is the sole income provider for the whole family.
The approximate cost of the surgery is Rs. 15,00,000 Lakhs. He has also applied under PM fund, for which he has received Rs. 3,00,000 Lakh. He needs your urgent help to save Rani- his youngest one!
