Story

Assam Flood Relief Fund
We are a group of 3 independent 3rd-year college students based in Guwahati, taking up various social projects under the banner of “Altruists of Society” to support the ones in need via crowdfunding. We have been providing cooked meals, relief, and medical aid to orphans and destitute people for the past 3 years.
Earlier in 2020 in collaboration with the Assamese Association of UK and local self-help groups, we have provided relief to more than 1120 families, covering more than 8 villages and a few local areas. Here is a link to our previous projects - https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-tapobrat-narayan-deb?utm_medium=withdrawal_transferred&utm_source=donation
Here are some photos from our previous drives –

Currently, Assam is facing severe floods that have affected more than 37 districts out of 33 including 1700 villages. Just in the last 24 hours, the intensity of the flood has affected the lives of 7,17,588 people, including 1.44 path children.  More than 1,00,000 people had to be relocated to 248 flood relief camps across the state due to the floods.
Forest officials said that 95 percent of the Kaziranga National Park -- home to the endangered one-horned rhino -- has been flooded with the death of 17 wild animals in the past two days. Animals could be seen emerging out of the park to escape drowning.
Agricultural activities in the state have also been hit, with nearly 90,000 hectares of agricultural land getting flooded. Many such fields had standing crops on them
Dima Hasao and Cachar remain the worst-hit districts of Assam due to floods and landslides. Due to landslides majority of the roads remain closed for transportation and most areas are inaccessible because of that.
So I request my fellow citizens to come forward and donate a little bit if you feel like you can make some impact in touching lives. Any donation is going to help people out there with their food, medical, shelter, and other needs. Any amount which you will donate either big or small is going to help them in a big way.
Help Assam fight back the floods! We will be sharing live updates from the field and will make sure help reaches those in need.
